​I’m posting this as a warning to others who might see these advertisements. I recently engaged with a profile featuring a "super hot" man, but it quickly became clear this is a coordinated Advance Fee scam.
​How they tried to play it:
​The Hook: The advert looks great, featuring high-quality photos that are likely stolen from a fitness model or influencer.
​The "Friend" Tactic: After I reached out, they sent a photo of a second person, claiming this was their "friend" who could also come along.
​The Pivot: When I declined and stated I only wanted to meet the person from the original advertisement, they immediately shifted to a high-pressure financial demand.
​The Demand: They insisted on a £100 deposit upfront before anything could proceed. They claimed this was for "security" or because I was a "new client."
​Why I didn't fall for it:
​This is a classic "Bait and Switch." They use the "friend" photo as a distraction to make you feel like you're in a negotiation. When you say no to the extra person, they hit you with the deposit demand, hoping you'll pay just to get back to the "original deal."
​Luckily, I am aware of how these scams operate. In this industry, anyone demanding a non-refundable deposit via bank transfer or app before a face-to-face meeting is almost certainly a scammer. Once you send that £100, they will either block you or invent a "processing fee" to try and get another £100 out of you.
​The Result:
I declined their demands and ended the conversation. They are looking for easy targets who will pay out of pressure or excitement.
​My Advice: If they start talking about "friends" coming along or demand money before you’ve even met, block them immediately. Don't lose your money to these people.
